LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Norris Grad, Kale Fountain, had anything but a typical MLB Draft day. Fountain was selected with the 151st overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres. However, he wasn’t at his draft watch party but rather in a car with his Dad.
“We were just driving to get away and just take a breather,” Kale Fountain said.
Fountain proceeded to receive a call from his agents and eventually an offer that he could not turn down. The LSU Baseball signee was fully expecting to play college baseball next year but the Padres exceeded his expectations with the amount of money his contract would be worth.
“A a roller coaster of emotions but it is a sigh of relief and I am excited for the next chapter,” Fountain said.
